Every department has formed its own distinctive features in diagnosis and treatment and clinical research.
Department of Infectious Diseases excels in the clinical and laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases, antibiotic utilizing and diagnosis and treatment of various kinds of viral hepatitis. The department has an infectious disease research institute and a key lab of infectious diseases under the Ministry of Public Health, undertaking major ministry and provincial tasks.
Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery is in a leading position of the comprehensive treatment of surgical excision and cryopreservation of liver cancer and pancreatic cancer, and of the comprehensive treatment of portal hypertension and AHNP in the country. Since the first successful complicated liver transplantation in 1993, its technology of liver transplantation has been among the best in China. In 1994, the first case of pancreas-kidney combined transplantation in Zhejiang Province was successfully carried out in the department. Up to the present, 6 such cases are successful. It keeps the record of the longest survival time of patients who received such operations in Asia. This program won National Second Prize of Progress in Science and Technology and Provincial First Prize of Progress in Science and Technology. The program of liver-kidney combined transplantation won Provincial First Prize of Progress in Science and Technology.

Department of Gastrointestinal and breast surgery is noted for operations of gastrointestinal tumors and mastocarcincma. Vascular surgery has a very high level of endovascular surgery, Budd-Chiari Syndrome, TIPSS operation, and peripheral vascular surgery.

Hematology Department applies a comprehensive therapy to treat kinds of leukemia, which has been in a leading position in China. In 1995, sibling donor allogeneic bone marrow transplantation and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) was successfully carried out. Since the first successful case of unrelated donor allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (UDABMT) in Zhejiang Province in November, 1998, the technology of UDABMT in the department has reached a high level of the world.
Cardiology Department takes the lead in the diagnosis and treatment of interventional cardiology in the province and has remarkable efficacy of radiofrequency ablation for arrhythmia, the technology of which ensures its role as a leader in this respect at home. Besides, it has a unique way to diagnose and treat atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.

Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Department is good at heart valve replacement as well as the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases. It has high success rate of extracorporeal circulation open heart surgery, which reaches the advanced level in the country. For the past few years, the department has carried out minimally invasive surgery for various heart diseases and even successfully carried out operations for heart transplantation in 1994. The time for heart replacement operation is the shortest in the country. In April, 2000, there was another successful operation for heart-lung combined transplantation. It keeps the record of having the longest survival time and highest living quality of patients in the country.

Urology Surgery Department is the first one to put in practice partial neph rectomy, cryo surgery of pro state, and the tenth intercostal extrapleural combined incision operation in the country. It also has special experience in the diagnosis and treatment of urinary tumors, clinical research on andrology and extracorporeal lithotripsy for urinary calculus.

Kidney Transplantation and Hemodialysis Center has totally performed over 1000 cases of kidney transplantation since the first kidney transplantation in 1977. Kidney transplantation won Provincial First Prize of Progress in Science and Technology in 1998.

Department of Gastroenterology is skilled in using endoscopy to diagnose and treat early digestive diseases and gastric cancer. Department of Endocrinology is good at diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, hyperthyroidism and other various difficult and complicated cases.

Department of Anus and Intestine Surgery is well-known for its remarkable achievements in surgical treatment of recurrent rectal carcinoma, application of ostomy, and diagnosis and treatment of internal and external hemorrhoid.
Vascular Surgery Department mostly deals with the diagnosis and treatment of common diseases of vascular surgery, frequently occurring diseases and difficult and complicated diseases.
