First aid skills contestants' performances "perfect"

A contest of first aid skills has been held among the FAHZU nurses as part of the Hospital's efforts to get itself fully prepared to provide medical and healthcare services for the 2016 G20 summit.

The final competition came on Wednesday when more than 100 contestants exhibited their expertise in handling emergencies.

Judges said the contestants' performances were perfect and it was a "natural result" of the Hospital's standardized first aid training through the years.

The competition was consisted of four procedures: cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR),
urine catheterization, sputum intubation, which involves the insertion of a tube into the respiratory tract to suck out the thick fluid, and defibrillation, which delivers a therapeutic dose of electrical current to the heart to terminate abnormal heartbeat.
